I really think that if you were to ask anyone if they like life easy or with expectations, I am sure many would just articulate back “just give me the easy life.” But if you were to take them into there future to see what those results may lead to, they may then wished they would have asked for something a little different.
I meet people everyday that have always just looked for the “easy way” or the less challenging way. You may be feeling even as you read this that is summertime and life is meant just to be easy.
I’m reminded of the old song by the Eagles that summed it up this way;
Take it easy, take it easy
Don’t let the sound of your own wheels
Drive you crazy
Lighten up while you still can
Don’t even try to understand
Just find a place to make your stand
And take it easy.
I used to like that song before I grew up a little and learned that life is so much more than just having “it your way.” If fact Jesus said it this way in Matthew 16:24 “If any of you wants to be My follower, you must turn from your selfish ways, take up your cross and follow Me.” (NLT) He also says in Luke 9:24 For whoever desires to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for My sake will save it.” (NKJV) Jesus also said “My yoke is easy and my burden is light.” Matthew 11:30
I really believe that when we serve the purposes of God that then and only then do we find the true meaning of what we have been created for. And it doesn’t always come packaged with a label that says “easy” on it.
