Making the Most of Every Opportunity.
Ephesians 5:15-16 (NIV) “Be very careful, then, how you live–not as unwise but as wise, making the most of every opportunity, because the days are evil.”
Two greek words for this One is “time” which is kronos. It means simply time. But then there is the word here that is translated “the Time.”
Opportunity –“Kairos” – A divine or supreme moment in time. “An undetermined period of time in which something special happens.”
“A passing instant when an opening appears which must be driven through with force if success is to be achieved.”
Ever seen that? Ever heard someone say “he was at the right place at the right time?
Leonard Ravenhill said it this way he said, The opportunity of a lifetime is seized in the lifetime of the opportunity.”
For some of you that may be today. Today may be your opportunity to make that commitment in your life to know Jesus.
God sets us up with opportunity to capture that opportunity.
*I must recognize the opportunity. Im living in a season of opportunity!
The reason that we are here (on earth) is to seize the opportunity that God has placed in front of us!
Ephesians 2:10 (NIV) “For we are God’s workmanship, created in
Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for
us to do.”
Our destiny is NOW. Today when we can help, heal or make a difference.
Genesis 12:2 (NLT) “I will bless you, I will make your name great…and you will be a blessing.”
We are NEVER BLESSED JUST FOR US! BUT to be a blessing!
Luke 12:48 (LB) “…Much is required from those to whom much is
given. For their responsibility is greater.”
I believe that God will judge us more than many others!
*I must seize the opportunity. Live with the understanding that we HAVE TO DO SOMETHING!
Galatians 6:10 (NIV) “Therefore, as we have opportunity, let us do good
to all people, especially to those who belong to the family of believers.”
And when it comes to you, seize it!
Colossians 4:5-6(NIV) “Be wise in the way you act toward outsiders;
make the most of every opportunity.
Let your conversation be always full of grace, seasoned with salt, so that you may know how to answer everyone.”
Even in your speech! You and I have the opportunity to speak grace and life into someone today.
Philippians 1:21 (LB) “For me, living means opportunities for Christ…”
You see when we live for Him, we see life as an opportunity. Each moment. Can you see that? Can you believe that! Yesterday was a great opportunity, but today, and tomorrow are full of opportunities for you and I.
*Obedience is the key. God MAY ask of you sometimes that will simply seem to be CRAZY! But He is looking for obedience.
Obedience will always take us to a higher level in life and in our walk with Him.
Luke 18:29-30 (GW) “I guarantee this. Anyone who gives up
anything for the kingdom of God will certainly receive many times
more in this life and will receive eternal life in the next world to
come.”
Luke 6:38 (Message) “Give your life away and you’ll find your life
given back. But not merely given back. Given back with bonus and
blessing.”
What Now?
1. Pray.
Matthew 9:37-38 (NIV) “Then he said to his disciples, ʻThe harvest is plentiful but the workers are few. Ask the Lord of the harvest, therefore, to send out workers into his harvest field.”
2. Plan.
Galatians 6:4 (MSG) “Make a careful exploration of who you are and the work you have been given, and then sink yourself into that.”
We miss the opportunities in our lives and others when we fail to view life this way.
3. Participate.
I believe that God has set something awesome in front of every one of us. Lets seize it. Lets go through that opportunity that He has set before you and I!
